Background and Contents

2006 is another history making year for the steel industry. In 2006, China's crude steel production exceeded 420 million ton, accounting for 35% of the world total. In 2006, China became the world's biggest steel exporter. In 2006, the global steel output topped off 1.2 billion ton with the price indices buoyed up again and again to new historical highs. In 2006, Arcelor merged with Mittal.

There are many more for us to remember 2006 and there are as many that we could expect in 2007. How the global economic climate change will affect the international steel market? Where the major regional markets will be heading? How China should balance its production and demand? All these obsessions will be addressed at the 5th International Steel Market and Trade Conference 2007.

As the only international steel market and trade forum of CISA and MC-CCPIT, the conference have been convened successfully for four times since it was established in 2000. It has become one of the most important steel events in China and around the world. At this year's conference, we expect to welcome over 500 high ranking delegates from the major international steel associations, consulting firms, producers, traders, consumers, financial institutions and logistics companies to join our carefully selected speakers to review the highlights of 2006 and deliberate on the evolution of the global and regional steel markets and steel trade in 2007 and beyond.

There will be four panels focusing respectively on the Chinese Market, International Markets, International Trade and Modern Steel Logistics. Major topics will include:

  • Chinese steel production and consumption in 2006 and 2007
  • Chinese steel price evolution in 2006 and outlook for 2007
  • Chinese steel import and export and trade policy
  • Global steel production and market by region
  • International steel trade and trade policy
  • Development of steel market, electronic trading and processing centers

Reasons to attend

  • An authoritative international forum organized by CISA and MC-CCPIT and attended by the major international steel associations, consulting firms, producers, traders, consumers, financial institutions and logistics service providers, etc.;
  • A leading international steel event held in the world's biggest steel producing and consuming country;
  • A window to look into the development of the Chinese and global steel industry, market and trade;
  • A platform of information exchange and dialogue between CISA as the representative of the Chinese steel industry and its counterparts in the rest of the world.
