Background and Contents

The Steel Market and Trade Conference, jointly organized by China Iron and Steel Association and Metallurgical Council of CCPIT, is a world premier conference centering on steel market and trade issues. Serving as an official platform for CISA to release its annual review and forecast of the Chinese steel market, a vehicle for information exchange and dialogue between CISA and its counterparts around the world, and most importantly a window for the Chinese steel industry to understand the world and the world steel community to understand China, it has been successfully convened for five times since its establishment in 2000 and has become one of the most important steel events in China and around the world.

At our recent conferences, we had welcomed over 500 high-ranking delegates each time with roughly one third from outside of China. They are quite evenly distributed among the steel manufacturers, buyers either traders or end users, and service providers including associations, consulting firms, financial institutions and logistics companies.

2007 is another bumper year for the world steel industry with the total crude steel output topping 13.2 billion ton and steel prices staying at historical high. China is expected to be again leading the world by finishing 490 million ton in crude steel production and over 50 million ton in net crude steel export.
