10th International Steel Market and
Trade Conference

March 21-23, 2012
Shanghai Marriott Hotel Luwan, Shanghai, China

Background

2011 would look like a good year for the world steel industry with the steel demand expected to grow by over 6%, if we don't pay attention to the much higher growth of last year, the shrinking profit margin or the suddenly slashing steel prices weeks ago.

With the financial contagion in the Euro-zone, the economic recession in the US and activity slow-down in China, the global economy is clearly on the downside and it will not come back to recovery soon. 2012 will be a difficult year for us and it will be even more difficult than 2008 after the financial crisis.

At the 10th International Steel Market and Trade Conference, we will bring together leaders of the world's major steel association, related government agencies, leading steel producers, important consulting firms, representative steel traders and users to elaborate on market developments in 2012 and share their insights on sales and marketing strategies in difficult times.

Serving as an official platform for CISA to release its annual review and forecast of the Chinese steel market, a vehicle for information exchange and dialogue between CISA and its counterparts around the world, and most importantly a window for the Chinese steel industry to understand the world and the world steel community to understand China, the Steel Market and Trade Conference has been successfully convened for nine times since its establishment in 2000 and has become one of the most important steel events in the world.

Main Topics of the Conference

  • China's 12th Five-Year Plan for the Steel Industry;
  • The Chinese Steel Market: Supply & Demand Analysis and Price Trends;
  • World Steel Market and Major Regional Steel Markets Update;
  • China's Steel Export and International Steel Trade;
  • Demand Analysis by the Main Steel Consuming Sectors;
  • Sales and Marketing Strategies in Difficult Times;
