¡¡¡¡China has been the largest stainless steel consuming country in the world for the 4th consecutive year with its apparent consumption volume of around 4.47 million tons in 2004, the figure surpasses the total consumption volume of US and Japan, and is approaching the EU total. In 2004, output of crude stainless steel reached 2.36 million tons, i.e. an increase of 32.95% over the year before. By the year 2007, the output of crude stainless steel will be around 5-6 million tons, the CR stainless steel sheet will be around 3.5 million tons. China is expected to be the largest stainless steel country in terms of both production and consumption.

Increase of stainless steel capacity in China will have far-reaching effect on the world stainless steel production and market. With the project commission in Baosteel and TISCO, the concentration rate of stainless steel industry in China will increase; the newly-completed projects or projects under construction in China reflect the world-advanced stainless steel production technology & equipment; price trend of major raw material tends to be rational, despite of market speculation, the raw material supply can basically match with the need of stainless steel production£»statistics shows that the world capacity increase rate has far exceeded the consumption increase rate, our industry is not only facing how to compete on the existing market, but also exploiting new market by expanding the application field of stainless steel products; with the capacity increase in China, is China's market still able to import 2-3million tons of stainless steel products annually as previous years?
